"Fairy Tale"
2005/01/23 @ Motoyawata Route 14

Bands in order: Addict, Tokyo Heroes, Benom, Never Crazy

Another trip to Route 14 in the snow. Well, it wasn't snowing so much, but it was strange because the last time I'd been to Route 14 it was snowing. After the Benom live the other day, Ren and I had the hilarious idea to make tshirts that said "We Love Fucking", Fucking being the name of Benom's roadie who is really cute and shy... just because it would be really damn funny to have a tshirt that said that. We didn't actually make them, but we did take purikura and wrote the same on it.

So then we went to Chiba. Yuu said if we arrived between 5 and 5:30 to mail him and they'd come and give us the tickets. Opening was 5, starting was 5:30. We got there at 5 and he emailed saying to wait. Kouya was there and we made idle talk and bitched about the cold. At 5:30, Yuu trudges in with the rest of the band in tow. Kouya yells "you're late!" at him, and we think we're practically going to miss the first band. "One thousand.... two... hundred!" he exclaims proudly as he gives us the tickets. Chloe, behind him, says "It's better to say twelve-hundred!" like he knows everything about English. TOO funny. Then Iori emotionally hugged Fucking for no reason and the two of them walked around to the elevator in a loving embrace.

We go upstairs, and the guy at the door was like "uhh we're not open yet" and the opening on the counter said 6:00. So we were like ARG, this is the second time! And go back downstairs. Yuu giggled at us, and we were like hey this is your fault! Ren looked up on their keitai site which said the opening/start time and shoved it in his face and he was like oops.

So we sat around in the cold for another half hour.

The first band was Addict. They're mostly girls with an old-school visual look, and they pull it off well. They know how to work the small stage and the vocalist has a great voice. I think they're pretty good, but lacking in fans. Lack of fans brings lack of energy, so it's a bit awkward.

Next was Tokyo Heroes, the metally band with the gaijin guitarist the vocalist Linda loves bragging about. Linda came out with a big black lace shawl on his head, which covered his face and most of his upper body. We're not quite sure why. Iwan, the gaijin guitarist, MCed and doesn't appear to speak Japanese very well. Which is unusual, because he doesn't speak English either. Hmm. I think it's an act. Either way, they are good but I'm not really into them.

For Benom we went to the front of course, and they were super! They were back to suits, different ones this time though. Iori had a really bad white tie on and Haiji was wearing the granny skirt again, but his makeup wasn't half as ugly as it usually is. Chloe had on lots of vertical stripes that made him look like even more of a bean pole, and he got a really sexy new haircut so he had no gel in his hair. Yuu wasn't wearing his glasses or fake lip ring!! It was an improvement all around. They played Sei Strip to our delight (they didn't last time, and we both questioned it on the enquette), and us front row girls went crazayzay it was sooo fun. But some of the girlies have taken to sakuing them, which is the stupidest EVER! We only do it as a joke.

Through Never Crazy I filled out Benom's enquette and didn't really pay attention. The only thing I remember about them was a lot of yarn hair extensions. They weren't bad, but I wasn't really into it. The two of us were just in a Benom-only mood tonight. We got all mad because of the stupid fangirls being... stupid, and ended up leaving before the last band, Bloody Heart.

While turning in our enquette before leaving, the entire band except Yuu plus Hiromi and Fucking and the fangirls were crowded around the table. Ren gave Fucking our purikura and he nearly died. I don't know if he saw the "we love" or got the humor of the phrase, but the fact that we gave him our purikura with his "name" written on it made him overjoyed. Of course that made the band and everyone else crowd around and beg to see it and laugh hysterically and ask for them too. Aww they're so cute.
